Have you ever had gone outside bare? Bare-faced, I mean. Well, I did that for 7 days and here's my experience about SKIN FASTING:
Why I did it?
Simple. I read about it while I have burning cheeks brought about by eating too much chicken. I know I'm allergic to chicken but I wasn't too quick on evading temptation one particular evening. And the chicken tasted so good! The next day, I woke up with red, itchy, scaly, cheeks! Yikes! I was determined to leave chicken behind and to skip any product that would irritate my skin further. While I was browsing my Facebook newsfeed that day, I read about the 7-day skin fasting from VMV Hypoallergenics.
What, exactly is 7-day skin fasting?
7-day Skin Fasting is patterned from the normal way of fasting, except that you're doing it to your skin. For 7 days, you should STOP using anything: no facial wash, no toners, no moisturizers, and specially no make-up. You can clean your face using preservative-free virgin coconut oil. Since I had a bottle of unused VMV Hypoallergenics VCO on my cabinet sitting there for over 7 months already, I decided to use it.
How was my 7-day skin fasting experience?
It was liberating! I did not have to go through my "complicated" skin routine. Okay, my wash-tone-moisturize routine is not exactly complicated but just washing my face and using VCO for cleansing was like a shortcut to everything. I did not wear any makeup for 7 days which meant cleansing was an easy task. It was definitely liberating! I got comfortable in my own skin, I learned to go out of the house without makeup and without being shy or conscious that I have some pimples or imperfections.
Doing the 7-day skin fasting was great. Of course, I made sure that I did not have some big events or that I did not have to attend some important occasions that would require me to wear makeup during the 7-day challenge. My allergies cleared up fast but I had to watch my diet also and avoid the foods that trigger my rashes, which is quite disappointing because I never really wanted to limit myself on food. Hahaha! I am now more comfortable looking at myself in the mirror bare-faced and more comfortable having my photo taken even without makeup. My 7-day skin fasting experience has not only gave my skin some much needed love, it also gave my confidence a boost as well.
