Experience of a Proactiv User: Week 1

I'm a first-time user of Proactiv and I have watched a lot of its advertisements on tv wondering if this could really cure pimples. Right now, that I have the chance to use Proactiv, I am very excited and although I am no longer that acne-laden teenager, I still have some few zits that I want to manage.

The first time I held Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash, I read its contents and directions. I learned that Proactiv's most active ingredient is 2% salicylic acid. I have heard about salicylic acid when I was young, before I even stepped foot on adolescence. My mother and aunties were talking about salicylic acid as an effective cure for pimples and they recommended it to my cousins who were battling acne in their teenage years.

So, when I first used Proactiv, opened the bottle to remove the security tab. I now know that I can safely order Proactiv online considering that it will never spill while in transit. The color of the deep cleansing facial wash is blue, and it is very appropriate to its minty feel. The facial wash is thick but pliable, and its texture grainy from the micro-beads.

I particularly liked that the beads are very tiny. A pea-sized amount of the Deep Cleansing Wash has a lot of tiny beads suspended on it and I really feel like I have the cleanest face in the whole world after using this facial wash. I like the minty feel, washing my face after a long tiring day feels so refreshing with this Deep Cleansing Wash.

Personally, I don't like exfoliants because they irritate my skin. My dermatologist has told me before to stay away from beads and other exfoliants because they would only worsen my pimples. I'm just glad that so far in using the Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash for a week now, I did not have any unusual irritations.

But of course, I have some slight changes in my routine before I used the Proactiv Deep Cleansing Wash, as follows:

  1. I stopped using my regular facial wash and facial toner. This is to prevent any untoward reactions that might be caused in using different brands or different formulations. Currently and before using Proactiv, my face is generally clear but I have a few pimples on my chin. My acne has been manageable but there are teenie-weenie-tiny bumps on my face (that aren't pimples) that I hope would be cleared by using Proactiv.
  2. I used the Deep Cleansing Wash starting on a once-a-day basis. I actually started using the Deep Cleansing Wash on Day 1, then did not use any facial wash except water on Day 2. I continued using the Deep Cleansing Wash alternately for another two days then proceeded to a once-a-day routine. I wanted to introduce the product slowly and I wanted to make sure that I did not have any allergic reactions to the product. When I was convinced that I am not allergic to it, I started using it twice a day.
  3. I never use pressure while massaging the product on my face. Even if you do not have sensitive skin, you must always take caution in using exfoliants. I never use or exert pressure whenever I'm using the Deep Cleansing Wash because the beads might hurt my skin. We must always be gentle specially on our faces. Also, do not massage a particular area for a long time because there is a risk of over-exfoliation, and you don't want that to happen on your skin.
Proactiv Shining Moments....

I have learned that the Deep Cleansing Wash is actually not only for the face but also for the other parts of the body which have acne. It's good because my brother is suffering from back acne and I am excited to let him use the Deep Cleansing Wash and see it if would be effective in clearing our the acne on his back.

Proactiv Promo....

There is an ongoing promo until December 31, 2013 that will enable Proactiv users to purchase up to 60% OFF on selected Proactiv products when upgrading thier 30-day and 60-day kits. I'm contemplating of buying a complete 3-step kit for myself and upgrade the same but I am still thinking of what to buy. I really want to try the Green Tea Moisturizer but it's currently out of stock according to the Proactiv website. I will give you more details about this promo next week so stay tuned and let's all make our skin happy!

  1. I'm having the same problem! I have really small bumps on my face that aren't really pimples. I don't know where I got them, and I don't know what to do to get rid of them. I'd love to hear more about your Proactive experience! Will wait for your future posts :D
