Weight loss

Trying to lose weight?

I've had my share of weight loss dilemma---gym, aerobics, belly dancing, strict diet. But, I wasn't successful. Why? Because I didn't need to lose weight. I was just one of those girls who obsessively think of themselves as overweight and fat but are actually perfectly normal. Yes, I guess I went through that stage of that mental retardation--- I call it mental retardation.

My plight of losing weight was brought usually by friends who tell me that I'm fat. When I visited Mati sometime in 2006 and met a dancer there, she told me I'm too big to do DanceSport. I was 51 kilos then. At a height of 5'4", I wasn't really bothered with my weight. That dancer bragged that she's just 49 kilos (oh well, she's shorter than 5 feet) and told me I needed to lose weight if I wanted to dance.

I was already a dancer that time and I don't know why or how that girl slumped me so much that I swore I'd bring my weight to 45! Gym, aerobics, belly dancing, strict diet and all sorts of exercise proved futile. I was enjoying the exercise and I felt that I'm in my best shape but my weight has not moved a pound lighter.

Tired of chasing the unreachable 45-kilo finish line, I dismissed the idea of achieving it. I was still in and out of the gym, doing my jogging sessions once in a while, but I didn't really monitor my weight. I was happy with my body. Until I got sick and for four months' straight, I paid regular visits to my doctor. My weight was constant at 53 kilos. Oh, I gained some pounds! I was bothered but not really obsessed with losing it. I kinda like my body with those extra pounds...

About a year after visiting my doctor, I'm back at a clinic and found myself atop a scale. (Oh, here I go again). The pointer is at 49 kilos! It shocked me! I expected 53 kilos, but it's 4 kilos short. And I wasn't even trying to lose weight! Oh well, I lost weight naturally.

Losing weight naturally? Yes!

I was not in the exercise-obsessed mood for so long but I've been eating healthy foods. I guess it contributed a lot in my weight loss. I didn't even expect that I'm losing weight. Moreover, I've been swimming. Swimming isn't really a constant everyday or every week routine but at least, I squeeze it on my schedule when I have free time. I've cut on soda and iced tea, I go for natural fruit shakes and water. And most importantly, what I do every single day, is I WALK.

I'm happy at my current weight, and I got it without much effort. (--,)
